You’ve achieved your dream of working from home. You love it, but you also realize its pitfalls… how can you keep the daily distractions at bay?

How can you establish a healthy balance between work and family demands? We may not have the answer to every question.

Here are 5 great tips to help you stay focused when working from home…

Tips #1: Make Daily to Do Lists.

At the end of each day, make a To Do List for the next day. Include personal and family related tasks as well as your professional to-do’s. Check each thing off as you get it done. Consider getting a whiteboard to have your to-do list in front of you at all times.

Ask friends and family to not call or text you during your most productive hours, let the kids know that there is no loud playing at certain times, check your emails only once a day, etc.

Time can really slip away when you don’t have set office hours. Don’t let that happen to you. And finally, number

5: When you have gotten a good amount of work done, reward yourself with something special.

We all need a pat of the back and, when working from home, that pat may need to come from ourselves.

Treat yourself and your kids to an ice cream, or buy that special something off Amazon that you’ve been wanting… do something that makes you feel good about yourself and what you’ve accomplished.

Positive reinforcement helps us to tackle the next hurdle with strength and courage.
